Environmental

Our environmental team is highly skilled and enthusiastic to take on a variety of projects. We have a proven track record in environmental investigations and reporting for private landowners, local and regional councils, industry and iwi groups.

We are committed to environmental best practice and we strive to provide practical advice, guidance and solutions to our clients. We also provide advice on gaining resource consents, compliance with consent conditions, and prepare resource consent applications on behalf of our clients.

Utilising modern technologies, such as Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and high-accuracy portable surveying equipment, we capture and map useful data ensuring that our investigations and assessments are of high quality and cost-efficient.

Our key environmental expertise lies in the following areas:

  • Soil contamination investigations and reporting- so called HAIL assessments – including Preliminary Site Investigations, Detailed Site Investigations, Remedial Action Plans and Site Validation Reports. All work is carried out in accordance with the Contaminated Land Management Guidelines No. 1 and No. 5.
  • Drinking water and surface water quality assessments.
  • Environmental impacts of mining (including quarries).
  • Resource consent compliance.
  • Acid sulphate soils (coastal and geothermal).
  • Peer reviews.

Engineering

Civil

VISION’s extensive experience in land development activities ensures that we have the skills to see your project from initial concept/feasibility studies and cost-benefit analysis through to practical implementation and construction management.

Geotechnical

Success is built on good foundations, and our focus is your success. Our extensive experience in both geological and geotechnical development activities ensures that we have the skills to see your project from initial concept through to practical implementation and construction management.

VISION provides you with investigation and analysis of ground conditions to allow accurate assessments early in the design process, often saving time and money. We then help you to develop strategies that ensure effective design solutions minimise risk to people, communities and the environment.

We have specialist skills in the assessment and design of earthworks and excavations, man-made and natural slopes, embankments, retaining walls, tunnels, reservoirs, dams, roads and pavements, channels, mining and landfills.

Structural

Our team of engineers, technicians, and draftsman are able to analyse and design your structure to comply with the regulatory requirements while effectively communicating with you during your building project. Our team is adept at collaborating in multidisciplinary projects either as a team member or taking the lead role.

We have more than 30 years of experience specific to this field and are considered specialists in analytical analysis. We have a reputation for providing quality projects, on time, with value-added services. Our services include commercial, residential, education, and sports developments. The team is also involved in insurance and earthquake assessments.

Coastal

New Zealand is unique because it has some 14,000 kilometers of coastline.  As New Zealand grows planning for and accommodating design in the coastal environment will expand its exposure to natural hazards. VISION has a role to play in helping people understand these risks and provide designs which work with nature, mitigate the risks, and move toward a sustainable future.

Our coastal engineers and scientists are able to assist you with assessments of your project.  They can help you understand the forces causing coastal erosion, design and build marine structures, assess beach developments and beach nourishment, advise on tsunami risk, and map coastal wave runup or inundation risks.

Planning

Engaging the right planning services early on in a project is key to its success. At VISION we have extensive planning experience and capabilities, and we pride ourselves in providing timely, accurate and innovative planning solutions to a diverse range of public and private sector clients.

Our experience ranges from developing strategic planning documents and policies to support robust decision making for major infrastructure investment, through to obtaining resource consents for significant infrastructure projects, including large scale water takes, land use developments and coastal erosion protection.

Our successes, and those of our clients, stems from our reputation for integrity, coupled with our philosophy of providing innovative, evidence based, and robust planning solutions supported the expertise of our highly experienced in-house team of engineers, scientists and GIS specialists.

Whether the project is a major infrastructure development, or a minor land use consent, VISION is committed to delivering effective planning solutions tailored to meet the individual needs of our clients.

Research and Spatial

VISION’s has a team of researchers, data scientists and spatial analysts who are passionate about providing our clients with greater insight from their raw data. The team’s goal is to assist you to make better evidence based decisions and strategies.

Our researchers and data analysts process and model data to discover useful information that can inform and support your decision making process.

Our research and spatial team’s expertise can provide clients with:

  • data collection
  • accurate geospatial surveying services
  • the whole or part of the consultation process from public survey, data analysis through to the final reporting
  • data mining and data analysis including descriptive statistics, exploratory data analysis, and confirmatory data analysis
  • modelling and algorithms
  • machine learning and AI
  • demographic analysis
  • data visualization of insights
  • community engagement
  • interactive web applications and infographics

Specialist Areas

HAIL Assessments/Preliminary and Detailed Site Investigations

With years of experience and environmental expertise, VISION offers cost effective site assessments and investigations. We can tell you if your property is a HAIL site, and conduct Preliminary and Detailed Site Investigations, soil contamination testing and analysis, through to site remediation.
