VISION’s engineering team have a wide range of local and international experience working on projects across New Zealand, Australia, South East Asia, the Middle East, Europe, the United Kingdom, North Africa and the United States of America for building contractors, construction groups, private owners, government agencies and local councils.  The following services are provided:

  • Pre-purchase assessments
  • Feasibility assessments
  • Subdivision
  • Land development
  • Geotechnical
  • Structural
  • Coastal
  • Traffic/Roading
  • Contract Management
  • Construction Monitoring

Pre-purchase Assessments

VISION can provide pre-purchase engineering assessments for vacant lots and/or developed sites, including concept level recommendations, based on a desktop study and visual assessment of the site.

  • Undeveloped site – VISION can provide concept level recommendations in regard to the development of the land for likely foundations, land stability, earthworks, onsite wastewater disposal, stormwater disposal and access.
  • Developed site – following the completion of a building report, VISION can assess items identified as requiring a specific engineering assessment.

Feasibility Assessments

Feasibility assessments can start with something as simple as your ideas sketched on the back of a napkin.   Our team will work with you to develop concept options and high level cost estimates for the lifecycle of your project from concept design through to construction.  A feasibility assessment can be used by the client for cost benefit analysis to determine the viability of your proposed development.  VISION can also assist with this process.

  • Subdivision feasibility
  • Concept options
  • Initial high level cost estimates
  • Cost benefit analysis

Subdivision

VISION’s experience in the subdivision of land ensures that we have the skills to see your project through from engineering reports in support of a Resource Consent application through to practical implementation and construction.

  • Site suitability reports covering vehicle assess, earthworks, natural hazards, stormwater, wastewater and water supply (including fire fighting)
  • Onsite wastewater feasibility reports
  • Stormwater feasibility reports
  • Geotechnical reporting and analysis
  • Earthwork design and grading plans
  • Erosion and Sediment Control Plans
  • Coastal Hazard Assessments
  • Flood Hazard Assessments
  • Wastewater, stormwater and potable water reticulation design
  • Traffic, Access and Parking  Assessments
  • Construction Monitoring

Land Development

Residential, commercial and industrial developments regularly require engineering input to support a Building Consent or Resource Consent application.  This can include geotechnical, wastewater, stormwater and structural services.  Our engineers have experience across Northland in providing engineering reports and preparing building consent applications.

  • Building Consent applications
  • Earthwork design and grading plans
  • Erosion and Sediment Control Plans
  • ‘Good Ground’ Reports
  • Geotechnical Reports
  • Onsite Wastewater Disposal Reports (TP58)
  • Stormwater Attenuation Reports
  • Stormwater Management Report
  • Construction Monitoring

Geotechnical

Success is built on good foundations, and our focus is your success.  Our experience in both geological and geotechnical engineering ensures that we have the skills to see your project from initial concept through to practical implementation and construction.

VISION provides you with investigation and analysis of ground conditions to allow accurate assessments early in the design process, often saving time and money.

  • ‘Good Ground’ Reports
  • Geotechnical investigation, analysis and reporting
  • Geomorphology and Geology Hazard Mapping
  • Slope stability analysis
  • Foundation design
  • Liquefaction analyses
  • Retaining wall design
  • Slip repairs
  • Settlement analysis
  • Reservoirs/Dam Assessments
  • Construction Monitoring

Structural

VISION works with local and national structural engineers who analyse and design your structure to comply with regulatory requirements while effectively communicating with you during your building project. Services include commercial, industrial, residential, education, and sports developments.

Coastal

New Zealand is unique because it has some 14,000 kilometres of coastline. As New Zealand grows, planning for and accommodating design in the coastal environment will expand its exposure to natural hazards. VISION has a role to play in helping people understand these risks and provide designs that work with nature, mitigate the risks and move toward a sustainable future.

Our coastal engineers and scientists are able to assist you with assessments of your project. They can help you understand the forces causing coastal erosion, design and build marine structures, assess beach developments and beach nourishment, advise on tsunami risk, and map coastal wave runup or inundation risks.

  • Coastal Hazard Assessments
  • Coastal Flooding Assessments
  • Coastal erosion
  • Disaster Risk Reduction
  • Designing for sea level rise and climate change
  • Managed retreat
  • Marine structures such as wharves, jetties and boardwalks
  • Coastal protection works
  • Sand dune stabilisation
  • Beach nourishment
  • Land reclamation
  • Coastal monitoring

Traffic/Roading

VISION’s engineers have significant experience with the roading projects from driveways for residential dwellings to intersection design on New Zealand Transport Authority highways.

  • Footpaths, shared paths and cycleways
  • Pavement design
  • Driveways and vehicle crossings
  • Car parks
  • Highway design
  • Road and intersection capacity analysis
  • Traffic Impact Assessments
  • Road Safety Audits

Contract Management

VISION has experienced engineers that can provide construction management services for your project, from tendering and contract award through to practical completion and as-built documentation.
